Hello! My name is Stephanie and I’m the blogger behind Books & Cuddles. I live in beautiful Vancouver, Canada with my husband and daughter. A lifelong bookworm, I’ve always had an appreciation for literature. Since becoming a parent, that appreciation has morphed into a passion for childhood literacy and a desire to make a difference. 

Studies show that here in Canada, approximately 25% of children begin kindergarten without the skills they need to learn how to read proficiently. In the United States, that rate is 35%. (Source) The ability to read - and to actually comprehend what you are reading - is a fundamental life skill that is absolutely vital to a child's success. As parents, we have the ability to help our children develop solid reading and comprehension skills. Fostering a love for the written word begins at home.

Books & Cuddles is a parenting blog for bookish moms and dads. My hope is that this will be a place where you’ll find valuable resources to help you make reading part of your family’s daily rhythm. From book recommendations to family reading guides,     . My mother, a former kindergarten teacher, has over 35 years of experience in education and will be stopping by occasionally to share her insights. Once in a while, I’ll branch out and share some of my other favorites – recipes, toys, nursery and kid room decor, etc. - but most of the time, this space will be all about the books. (And the cuddles, obviously.)
